New Cinema Lens

I am pleased to announce a new cinema lens to the quiver!

New cinema lens for my Cine-G Rig; a custom, modular, cinema + ENG style camera rig for shooting documentary, sports, events and live stream video.

The Sirui Jupiter full frame 28-85mm cinema zoom lens is a bargain comparably speaking. If you know cine zoom lenses, they are expensive. This lens comes in under $3000 bucks.

I’m still putting the new cinema lens through real world testing but so far I am impressed. As for its intended use it is proving very worthy.

At its widest [28mm] it’s good for both landscape and close up work. I can still truck-in and out, and now zoom for proper framing and effect.

On the long end (85mm) its reach is good for dramatic [slow] and crash zooms. A Nucleus M (FIZ) system provides progressive lens control via sensitive thumb toggle as well focus and iris motor controls.

The lens is Parfocal, which means it retains focus while zooming in and out. Preset focus on a close up and the lens retains focus back and forth throughout its zoom range.

A T3.2 aperture provides quality bokeh wide open, which is significantly faster than f/4 aperture lenses. Paired with a Sony FX3 this rig becomes a low light beast. Perfect for night or any low light shooting requirements.

This may be the perfect lens for my Cine-G. But what exactly is a Cine-G?

The Cine-G is a custom built, modular, camera rig combining cinema and ENG capture and broadcast capability. Perfect for street work, special events, interviews, documentary, sports and live streaming.

Admittedly, this rig is a bit of a Frankenstein, but that’s the point behind the build. Adaptable, modular, camera rig, to handle most any shoot requirements.

This new cinema lens allows more depth to my work through incorporating zoom capabilities.

The Sirui Jupiter cinema lens is not gimbal compatible. It’s too big, but it works great with an Easy Rig, and yes, an Easy Rig is necessary to operate my Cine-G.

With this new lens the Cine-G is too heavy to operate for more than short duration's. The Easy Rig carry’s the camera weight allowing the operator maneuverability with minimal fatigue for hours on end.

To be clear, the Easy Rig is not a Gimbal. It’s a support rig for run and gun shooting.

My Cine-G is easy to operate. However, operating any cinema camera especially with FIZ control takes deliberation to maintain and adjust Focus, Iris, Zoom, and, in this case, a behind the lens geared and motored Neutral Density filter assisting exposure through the FIZ handles.

Being a one-man show, as this rig allows, requires full concentration and attention to detail. With this new cinema lens on my rig I’m confident to capture the shot every time.

When the time comes for additional takes or the next scene, I’m ready. No changing lenses, filters, sound devices, or power supply, all day long, ten hours strong.

Lights, camera, action! Loving my new cinema lens! Let’s Pixel!

I own Sony cameras, but my Cine-G Rig is modular, adaptable to any camera and lens requirement. Modularity conforms to use on dolly's, cranes, booms, gimbals, and sliders for camera motion in production, as well tripod mount for stick work.

I offer multi camera rates, and wireless video transmission as single source, or output to video mixer for multi-cam live streaming. Which, to date, has become a popular featured product.
